Blustery Leaves
Supplies Needed
Making the Leaves:
Stamp the leaves with black permanent-type of ink on white paper. Let thoroughly dry. Make ink more permanent by heat setting with embossing tool or iron. Cut out leaves. Stipple various color of Radiant Pearls onto the leaves. Set aside for about five minutes, then buff and polish them by rubbing with a paper towel. Begin rubbing and buffing on the lighter areas first working toward the darker areas. Turn the leaves over and lightly score along the main veins of the leaves with the sharp tip of the craft knife. Be careful that you not cut through the paper only a light, gentle scoring. Gently crinkle the leaves. The Radiant Pearls should have made the paper soft and supple allowing for easy crumpling.
Paper behind the leaves (matte green):
With the Tsukineko Emboss Pen, draw lines or arcs on the green paper. Emboss with gold embossing powder. Spray the paper with Spray Adhesive. Sprinkle with Changeable Glittering embossing powder. Heat until colors change to your desired look.
Brocaded Paper (matte black) (½ wider and ½ longer than green paper):
Stamp leaves with pigment ink or embossing ink around ½ of the outer edge of black matte paper. Emboss with gold embossing powder. Lightly spritz Spray Adhesive over stamped and embossed outer edge. Sprinkle changeable glittering embossing powder and heat until colors change.
Lustrous Color Paper (matte tan) (1 wider and 1 longer than Brocaded Paper):
Swipe, sweep. Stipple, and swirl the Whiska Brushes that have left over paint from the leaves onto the outer Ύ edge of the tan paper. Add more colors as desired. Let there be a few swipes and streaks. Blot as necessary buff if desired.
Black Gloss border ( ½ wider and ½ longer than Lustrous Paper
Assembling:
Spray the back side of the green paper, the black Brocaded paper, and the tan Lustrous paper with spray adhesive, first across the paper, then up and down the paper. Let set for three to five minutes. Put the tan Lustrous paper onto the black gloss paper. Press firmly and thoroughly. Put the Brocaded black paper onto the Lustrous paper, centering. Press firmly. Press thoroughly and firmly. Put the green paper onto the Brocaded paper, centering. Press thoroughly and firmly. You may put this under weights, such as a stack of books or a book or paper press for a few hours before finishing. Attach the leaves to the green layer using pop-up dots or foam tape.
Variation for more depth and card separation: Attach one of the card layers with Pop-Up Dots rather than flat gluing (with spray adhesive).
