Preparing tiles: cut three pieces illustration board into tiles approximately 3" x 4". Peel the slick illustration paper off the tile. This is the right side of the tile.
Moon tile: Pat the right side of the tile with black and blue pigment pads, randomly, but thoroughly. Coat with clear coarse grind embossing powder and emboss. Repeat. Put the tile on a piece of cardboard (cut smaller than tile, creating a lift) in the shoebox. Apply heat to the tile which will remelt the embossing powder. Hold heat tool away from tile during next step, you don't want the powder blowing away. Sprinkle coarse grind embossing powder to hot tile. The heat of the tile will hold the newly applied powder in place, reapply heat to finish melting. Repeat and repeat until you have about six or seven coats. The tile should be very viscous ... you can move the molten embossing powder around with the hot air from your heat tool, even making ooze over the edges of the tile. Now, start sprinkling in blue embossing powder. Add spots of silver embossing powder. Sprinkle a little silver glitter. Turn off heat tool. Press the over-inked (lubed) moon stamp into the hot tile with a sliding/twisting motion. This will push the hot embossing powder along one edge of the moon creating a high rise emphasizing the moon shape. Let the tile cool down a bit, then remove the stamp. Apply Pearl-Ex into the de-bossed image of the moon, rubbing in with a cotton swab.
Sun tiles: This one is a bit of a challenge. You'll be working with two tiles at once. Getting both and keeping both hot is the challenge. Apply pigment ink, black and red, randomly and thoroughly to the tiles, etc. as with the moon tile. Repeat. Now, put the tiles (on cardboard lifts) in shoe box side by side, but not touching each other. You don't want them fusing together during the heating process. As with the Moon tile, heat the Sun tiles and sprinkle with clear coarse embossing powder. Repeat and repeat until there are six or seven coats and the embossing powder is viscous and oozing over the edges. Sprinkle on some burgundy colored embossing powder. Sprinkle on some gold. Toss in a little gold glitter. Stamp the over-inked (lubed) Sun stamp into the two tiles. Let the tiles cool a bit before removing the stamp.
The Frame: Cut a frame from the illustration board. Rub the smooth white surface with Metallic Rub-Ons, burnishing the colors into the surface. Create a patina or old metallic look with plenty of rubbing.
Fini: With silicone or other thick gel-like glue, attach frame to illustration board background. Glue a strip of dark moonrock paper to the background. Glue the tiles to the moonrock.
